Abstract
Ángel Rama is a representative example of the Latin American intellectual and has a prominent place, along with Cândido and Cornejo Polar, in the refoundation of the critical tradition in Latin America. A review of the activities that he developed before his death allows to realize the characteristics of the intellectual field in those years, when the bases of the process of “normalization” of literary criticism and the formation of Latin American literary theory were set. This leads to acknowledge some of the concepts and analysis categories coined by him and state the possible lines of development of his project, where the text “La modernización literaria latinoamericana (1870–1910)” is fundamental, partly because it takes into consideration the idea of literary system from Cândido.Downloads
