The purpose of this article is to underscore the extremely complex features that are found in Estanislao del Campo's Fausto. They are precursors in the art inside the art, prefiguring the literature of modernity. The poem is part of the gauchesca literature and it is also a parody that responds in advance to Bajtín's propositions on the dialogic and polyphonic.
