Abstract

Manuel Scorza is recognized not only as a novelist but also as a poet. This is a definitcharacteristic of his writing, even that in which he pretends to express his social discontent, his rebelious feelings toward unjustice toward his fellowmen, his beloved peruvian peasents and mineworkers, that have been misstreated for centuries. In his peculiar style, he developes a new voice, that of his fellowmen expressed by his writing. By doing this, his novels, in particular those that belong to the so call pentalogy, also known as “Ciclo de la guerra silenciosa”: Redoblepor Rancas, Garabombo, el invisible, El jinete insomne, Cantar de Agapito Robles, La tumba del relámpago, became more than a historic document, a narration of the social sucesses, a series of novels with a testimonial purpouse, and a poetic chant of rebelion fullfilled with the stregth and the magic of the voices of the misstreted thruout Manuel Scorza’s poetic writing.
