Lo que Sarmiento nunca escribió: la escena ausente de Recuerdos de provincia

  • Alejandra Laera Universidad de Buenos Aires

Abstract

This article shows the different ways in which the argentine letrado Domingo Faustino Sarmiento composes his image as a writer, particularly in his autobiography Recuerdos de provincia (1850). Instead of explaining the act of writing, like other contempory authors do, he’d like better a different autobiographical strategy. In one hand, he presents certain scenes of recognition through which he succeeds in be considered a writer; in the other hand, he presents some scenes of foundational writing. Finally, the article introduces some practices related to the art of writing in Sarmiento, like reproduction, translation, quotation and copy.
