Heterotopías: imaginación política y espacio en Piglia y Aira

Abstract

This article explores the way in which different representational practices of the city map proposed in La ciudad ausente by Ricardo Piglia and La villa by César Aira may be appropriated as political proposals for the posdictatorial period. In this paper Ricardo Piglia´s novel is read as the culminating allegorical fiction whose main purpose is to erode the formula that equates forgiveness to forgetting, thus proposes another manner of leaving the Proceso behind. On the other hand La villa is considered one of the first (and foremost) fictions of a new kind: those interested in proposing new sociabilities, that subsume the work of mourning, new alliances and conducts that are capable of, when unable to frontally face neoliberalism, at the very least to escape its constrictions.
