Abstract

From the reading of The Sea and the Bells, a posthumous collection of poems by Pablo Neruda, Luz Elena Zamudio develops a brief and concise analytical course on two fundamental symbols of the Chilean’s author poetry: the sea and the bells. Through the observation of these motives, which in this article the author links with autobiographical-fictional elements and references to the lovewomen —also essential elements of the work of this author—, it is possible to distinguish images that the poet has performed of himself, and also references that he has made, especially in the context of his last days, to the eternal return and to the transformation of his poetic song over time.
