Abstract

In this work I propose to show how García Lorca in the play Amor de don Perlimplín con Belisa en su jardín incorporates the Spanish tradition as a significant element on its composition and, at the same time, it questions and subverts this tradition. With a procedure which can be named —following Gebauer and Wulf— diachronic mimesis in relation to El médico de su honra, by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, the play breaks up with the Barroque model and brings up a new insight to feminine identity, that challenges norm of the Spanish Society of 1920’s age.
